GBTA Urges House to Pass ‘PreCheck is PreCheck Act of 2018’

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) urges the House to pass H.R. 6265, the PreCheck is PreCheck Act of 2018. The bill is scheduled for a vote on the House floor today. The following statement may be attributed to GBTA Executive Director and COO Michael W. McCormick:

“GBTA believes the ‘PreCheck is PreCheck’ bill will make our nation’s skies safer while also facilitating a more efficient security process. TSA PreCheck has always offered business travelers a risk-based, intelligence-driven aviation security that is safe, fast and efficient. Previously though, GBTA has expressed concerns from the business travel community on the inclusion of non-PreCheck members into PreCheck lanes.

GBTA is pleased this bill will address this issue. GBTA also supports efforts to increase enrollment in the program by calling for a long-term strategy around driving enrollment and an effort to partner with air carriers to incorporate PreCheck Program promotional opportunities into the reservation process.

GBTA commends House Homeland Security Committee Chairman John Katko (R-NY) for taking the lead on this legislation and believes all of the items included in this bill are necessary to ensure PreCheck remains a vital tool for business travelers. Facilitating business travel drives the economy as U.S. businesses spend roughly $420 billion a year to send travelers out on the road for over 514 million domestic business trips including 144 million round trip flights.”
