Delta Air Lines and Aeromexico have partnered with Junior Achievement to provide eight high school students from Colegio de Bachilleres, Plantel 9 Aragón, with a unique job shadowing opportunity at Mexico City International Airport—the initiative aimed to give students firsthand experience in the aviation sector and insights from experienced professionals.
During the event, students received a behind-the-scenes tour of the airport, exposing them to the intricacies of its operations. Delta and Aeromexico volunteers also guided the students through a series of simulated real-world exercises and introduced them to various career paths within the aviation industry.
The initiative is part of a Joint Cooperation Agreement (JCA) between Delta and Aeromexico. The airlines use this agreement to collaborate on various projects and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals. María Aramburo-Aguilar, Airport Station Manager at Delta, expressed the airlines’ commitment to engaging with their communities and inspiring young people to consider careers in the aviation industry.
Junior Achievement also plays a crucial role in this initiative. The organization works to equip young people in Mexico City with the knowledge and skills they need to make smart academic and economic decisions. Their programs, delivered by volunteers and business and community educators, reach around 40,000 students from preschool to high school. Hugo Preciado, Junior Achievement Mexico Program Manager, highlighted the importance of the job shadowing initiative in showing students the numerous job opportunities available in the aviation industry.
In line with its community outreach goals, Delta continues to form partnerships that address individuals’ aspirations and needs to foster positive change at a global level.
