In a groundbreaking move, Holland America Line and A+E’s The HISTORY Channel have announced a first-of-its-kind partnership to bring history to life for guests on their cruises. Over the next three years, this collaboration will transport guests to ancient ruins and legendary landmarks through custom itineraries and shore excursions, offering them a comprehensive experience of the destination’s history.

The partnership promises to enrich Holland America Line’s cruises, combining the cruise line’s expertly curated itineraries with The HISTORY Channel’s knack for storytelling. Itineraries such as the 14-Day Arctic Journey & Northern Lights or the 7-Day Mediterranean Marvels of Pompeii, among others, are set to offer guests a deep dive into historical moments and cultural heritage.

In addition to the cruises, Holland America Line is known for its shore excursions that focus on the history and culture of the destination. With the new partnership, guests can expect dozens of shore excursions such as Gold Panning & Underground Mine Exploration or Giza Pyramids, Sphinx & the Pyramid of Sakkara, where they can explore the locale’s historical significance.

The collaboration is a significant move for the cruise line and The HISTORY Channel. “As two iconic brands rooted in storytelling, we are uniquely positioned to bring history to life,” says Kacy Cole, chief marketing officer for Holland America Line. On the other hand, David DeSocio, executive vice president of ad sales partnerships, A+E/The HISTORY Channel, expresses excitement over the partnership’s potential to add a new dimension to the cruising experience.

The partnership comes as Holland America Line guests have rated learning about destinations and visiting historic sites among the most desired travel experiences. With the collaboration with The HISTORY Channel, Holland America Line aims to meet its guests’ aspirations while expanding its focus on authentic storytelling.

Details about the itineraries and shore excursions created in partnership with The HISTORY Channel are available for booking today. Further information about the partnership, including additional itineraries and shore excursions for 2025, 2026, and 2027, will be released in the coming months.
